The year was 1995 and "Bob & the Beachcombers" were traveling around Minnesota and the upper Midwest performing at ballrooms, street dances, VFWs and American Legions, corporate parties, city celebrations and events of all kinds. We were working hard to build and promote an entertaining and fun family show highlighting the best of the Beach Boys and other popular groups from that era, in a colorful and unique stage show unlike any other. The summer of that year we performed at 57 different shows including events in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and North and South Dakota. It was an exciting time for the Beachcombers and we were making new fans everywhere we performed. One particular fan took a special interest in Bob and began following the band all around Minnesota. She drove up to the Grand Casino in Hinckley in January and slept overnight in her car for the weekend. After one show in Tracy, we discovered her camped out in Bob's van behind the American Legion, along with a grocery bag full of personal belongings, hoping he would agree to elope with her after the show. And the following winter, police came to his home in Eagan to ask if he knew the girl they found sleeping in her car at a nearby cul de sac that morning! Share the thrill, excitement, and romance of living the rock & roll lifestyle and encounters with star struck fans. It's exactly what musicians hope for as they perform and advance their careers!
